There are 3 kinds of VITAMINS!

Come along with me this week as I show you the 3 different types of vitamins on today's market! Today I am going to fill you in on the "Walmart, CVS, drug store" type vitamins. These are the vitamins that I typically bought for my family in the past. They were always on sale and with Extra Care Bucks from CVS, normally I could get them next to free! Why did I switch, you ask? Well, I never noticed any difference in the way I felt and my kids were still always catching colds! I always though that vitamins gave you an edge on immunity! While earning my Autism Specialist certificate, I began researching vitamins needed for optimal brain health.....which in turn, completely turned me off of the "drug store" type of vitamins!

Here is a low-down on synthetic vitamins that you purchase at your local store.........

Synthetic: Drug Store Variety (Man-made in a test tube!)

  • No Enzymes (necessary for life - like the life force in a seed, aids nutrient metabolism)
  • Inorganic Substances, Artificial Colors, Flavors, & Sweeteners (which NEGATIVELY affectmy children! Check out all the dyes and sweeteners that are in Flinstone's vitamins, ugg!)
  • Mirror Image (beam of polarized light rotates in opposite
direction from natural in Vitamin E)
  • Stimulant (short term)
  • Imbalanced
  • Side Effects
  • Harsh Binders and Fillers
  • Many are coated with shellac which is nearly totally
resistant to the penetration of stomach fluids: (from
“Shaklee Discover the Difference” by Dr. Bruce Miller)

So with me doing the research, I learned that I was totally wasting my time and money to score a great deal on these vitamins! Time is precious to me with teaching full-time and having a family! And so is OUR HEALTH :)

~ One Does It All! ~

For many years, my favorite all-purpose cleaner was Mr. Clean! I LOVED this stuff! I loved everything about it! What is your favorite all-purpose cleaner? Why do you like it? Maybe you like it because it disinfects, smells "clean", or it was on sale the last time you needed an all-purpose cleaner. OR - maybe you never even gave it much thought! There was a time that I didn't either!

Until recently, I used to have about three different cleaners under each sink. Kitchen sink: aerosol spray disinfectant, bleach countertop spray, something that was abrasive, window cleaner and the beloved all-purpose spray. Bathroom: aerosol spray disinfectant, mold and mildew remover, something that was abrasive and the beloved all-purpose spray. I truly don't know why I had all those cleaners! I guess one reason is that I would always be able to get cleaners for a great price using coupons/doing the deals at CVS or K-Mart! HA!

Let's go back to the all-purpose cleaner. If something is all-purpose, shouldn't it be the only thing in your cabinet? Why do we need all those other cleaners under our cabinets waiting for little hands to get a hold of. Seriously, have you read the labels on your cleaning supplies? Have you ever gotten a headache or lightheaded from cleaning your shower/oven/sink? When we clean our homes we do it because it makes our homes more inhabitable, but we also do it to keep our families healthy. But what we do to keep our families healthy is actually poisoning our families. Now some of you presumably think I am nuts and that is OK! Just check out these links and read for yourself! Here, here and here.

NO, I don't sit here and look this stuff up just for fun! Through my amazing adventure getting my Autism Certificate, this research became of great interest to me! These chemicals are causing major problems in the world today!

Back to the all-purpose cleaner.....
If I'm buying an all-purpose cleaner, I want it to be an all-purpose cleaner. I want it to clean toilets, floors, countertops, stainless steel, my windows, cabinets, mirrors, grill......This brings me to one of my favorite cleaning products - Shaklee's Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate. What is special about it, you ask? Well, it's nontoxic, has no phosphates, 16 oz. makes 48 gallons of superpowerful cleaner, it's a no-rinse, no-residue, no-streak formula, and there are THOUSANDS of household uses. You can mix up the concentrate into three separate formulations - window cleaner (less than one cent per 16 oz. spray bottle), all-purpose cleaner (costs 3 cents per 16 oz. spray bottle) and the degreaser (costs 33 cents per 16 oz. spray bottle). So.....the bottle that I just bought cost me $10.35 and it will make 48 GALLONS of cleaner! This is a HUGE savings, unless of course you get your cleaners for free! However, the health of your family is PRICELESS!

Think about your all-purpose cleaner - is it helping or hurting your family? It's a little cleaning product that is either helping you by cleaning your surfaces and keeping you healthier or it's a little thing that could be making you sick....... and you're paying a lot of money for it.
